The Armless Tiger Man! (wait, WHAT?)
From MARVEL MYSTERY COMICS# 21 (December 1941), the Axis' worst saboteur explains his sad backstory. Having lost both arms while working in a factory, he developed a deranged hatred of machinery. Here he explains how he developed compensatory skills with his legs and feet and teeth err fangs. Sent to America to destroy our machines bare.. footed, he ran into the Angel. Now, the Golden Age Angel seems to have been the most popular of the second tier Timely heroes.  Captain America, Sub-Mariner ioand Torch were the big dogs of the pack but the Angel was a respectable fourth and beat out the Whizzer, the Vision, Destroyer and so on (although Namora and Miss America had a few issues of their own titles). The Angel was pretty much a generic super-hero, running around in a costume and punching bad guys. No unusual abilities (well he sometimes cast a winged shadow, not much help), no defined personality or motivation, no supporting cast or civilian life... he was like a stand-in figure until the writer and artist could flesh him out but never got around to doing. Luckily, the villains he tackled were so flamboyant and irrational that they made up for his blandness.

I think there are times in our lives when we could all benefit from the Armless Tiger Man's philosophy and (whether at school or work or at the Motor Vehicle Bureau) bellow out, "MACHINES! MACHINES! I hate them! I hate them!!" See if you don't feel better.

Handing a book to a guy with no arms is pretty cruel.
