Can't figure this one out

This is from the brush of Joyce Ballantyne, part of a 1954 calendar she did. I'm fairly sure there is some sort of visual pun or play on words, but can't figure it out. Maybe something to do with Halloween and a black cat. Or the clock suggests something like, 'Time for a little kittycat?' but otherwise I'm stumped.
